Key players in the wireless sensor network market include Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., NXP Semiconductors., STMicroelectronics, TE Connectivity, Advantech Co., Ltd., ABB, Honeywell International Inc., Broadcom, Robert Bosch GMbH and Eurotech. In a recent paper Jaya Kathuria Bindra, senior manager applications engineer and Nidhin MS, staff applications engineer both at Cypress Semiconductor Corporation, argued that BLE is now replacing proprietary protocols such as ‘ZigBee’ to become the de-facto standard of connectivity in low-power, low-cost IoT devices. Although there are many different ways to make this connection one of the easiest is Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology. The industrial internet of things (IIoT) relies on sensors to collect data from systems to enable the monitoring of movement, pressure, humidity and other characteristics that can be fed to the cloud for processing. Smart sensors with Bluetooth interface are increasingly becoming cloud-enabled as part of the move towards more connectivity.
